pp. 88_1-88_9

Abstract

This study focused on the influence of fabrication variations of high strength bolted friction type joint with thick plates. Predominant variations which affect to slip strength of the joint are focused. Slip strength of the joint is evaluated by FEM analysis. The response surface of slip strength of the joint is obtained as considering also interaction terms and second terms of the variations. This paper discusses terms of the variations which affect mainly, based on probabilistic perspective. First terms of the variations contribute almost to slip strength, and the contributions of the other terms are ignorable. A probability which of slip coefficient falls below design slip coefficient is calculated.

STUDY OF ELASTIC BUCKLING OF PLANE FRAMES SUBJECTED TO HORIZONTAL LOADS AND PROPOSAL OF A CALCULATION METHOD FOR COLUMN BUCKLING LENGTH

pp. 88_11-88_22

Abstract

In this paper, first, elastic buckling behavior of the plane frames subjected to horizontal loads is discussed in detail using a numerical analysis. Then, it is shown that, story drift angle smaller than 1/200 by horizontal loads have no influence on column buckling length. Following conclusions come out from above and past knowledge. When we design with the Japanese first level designing seismic load, the buckling length of column in plane frames can be shorter than member length. And we propose the calculation method for the buckling length of column in plane frames. It is a method for the buckling mode without member angle.

pp. 88_23-88_33

Abstract

Full-scale impact test for the pocket-type rockfall protective net which is one of rockfall protection methods were carried out. As the result of the tests, the needed performance and capture behavior were confirmed without damage of the wire netting. The reproduction model for the test is created using FEM analysis software LS-DYNA in this study. Besides, the limit energy which couldn't be confirmed in the test is examined.

Plastic Deformation Performance of Steel Beam with Web Openings Reinforced by Flat Bars at Beam End

pp. 88_35-88_42

Abstract

This paper proposes a method of reinforcing an H-section steel beam web with an opening for MEP piping at one end, that is fixing ready-made flat bars or/and angles by fillet welding on the web areas above and below the opening, in parallel to the beam's axial direction, so as to provide the bearing force equal to that of a beam without any opening and sufficient deformation capability, for the purposes of simplification and cost reduction of the reinforcement. We demonstrated its reinforcement effects by FEM analysis and a quasi-static loading test, and developed bearing-force evaluation equations for the areas around such openings to establish the design method.

STUDY ON SEISMIC RESPONSE BEHAVIOR OF SINGLE-STORY Z-TYPE NC BRACED FRAME

Shingo KOMATSU, Takao TAKAMATSU, Hiroyuki TAMAI, Teruaki YAMANISHI

pp. 88_43-88_53

Abstract

The authors propose a Z-type NC braced frame having incremental deformation characteristics in an earthquake. Our previous papers did not describe residual deformation of the frame after an earthquake, but a technique for estimating residual deformation needs to be established. Furthermore, elastic strain energy accumulation due to incremental deformation can decrease seismic response behavior. Shaking table tests on a single-story specimen are carried out to clarify the basic performance of this system and numerical analyses are applied to verify reappearance. Numerical analyses of actual-scale single-story braced frames are conducted to clarify seismic response reduction capability due to elastic strain energy accumulation and residual deformation after elasto-plastic oscillation, compared to those for BRB braced frames.
